Students and teachers joined forces in March 2010 to prepare and sell traditional sweets as a fundraiser to purchase a microphone to be used at school and community events.

Students and English teacher Ingrith show off their newly pasted English vocabulary words. In the Spring of 2010, the first American volunteer hoped to encite an interest in the English language by adding important words to all the classroom walls.
Students gather for an after school music class led by the music teacher as well as several community members in hopes of encouraging kids to cherish their musical heritage. The children were eager to play their new recorders as this was the first complete set of new instruments donated to the school by Chris Rezek.
In preparation for a cultural event held at Paulino Salgado by the Secretary of Culture, a group of female students prepare to exhibit traditional braiding. The school welcomed the director of the American Organizaiton of IberoAmerican States (OEI) by displaying the food, music, dance, fashion, and other cultural aspects of the AfroColombian community.

Thirsty students drink from the newly installed water purifying system funded by a monetary gift to the principal from the mayor of Barranquilla in May 2010. This is the first time the school has had clean, cool water for the students and faculty.
