Volunteer assistance is critical to enabling our international partners to create change in their communities. Many of them have shared the work they were able to accomplish with the help of international volunteers. Read their stories below.

Activities and Financial report, January to June 2012. We received 11 volunteers during this period (three of which are “ongoing”), who worked/are working in 4 community (rural) schools, namely Rosario, La Loma, San Alberto, and Cuellaje village. Additonally Suzanne de Cock, a qualified nutritionist, is giving workshops on nutrition for elderly people and children in the parish of Cuellaje. Emily Dannenburg is on an extended placement in the privately owned nature reserve of San Venancio, with the aim of developing the touristic potential of Fernando and Chari's pristine cloud forest property. Below we give details of the financial aspects of the stay of these volunteers, and wish to express our heartfelt thanks for the energy and enthusiasm that they have shown. Name/ Nationality /length of placement /family contribution ($) Ashley Hellman USA 1 month 160 Total contributed to All of these volunteers, with the exception of Emily Dannenburg, chose to spend 1 day's introductory period at Ned and Patricia's farm/guest house in San Antonio, and paid $15 per day, to include all meals, accomodation, visits to schools and internet/website charges. This is a not-for-profit service, provided with pleasure by Ned and Patricia. Equally, the contribution made by volunteers to their host family costs is calculated on a not-for-profit basis, with the aim of providing 21 good quality meals for the volunteer each week, and clean, simple accomodation. During the same period (Jan to June 2012), Intagtour received 10 ecotourists who paid a total of $310, and this money was used towards the purchase of 4 new matresses and 4 new beds for the cloudforest mountain refuge of Sr. Alfredo Rodrigues, (brother of Patricia Rodrigues, Ned's wife) in our effort to establish Cuellaje as a great ecotourist destination for visitors to Ecuador. Our most exciting project for 2012 is to use a $900 Omprakash partnership grant to carry out 2 works: installation of a hot shower for the San Antonio guest house, and construction of an ecotourist refuge on the mountain cloud forest reserve of Fernando and Chari Buitron at San Vencancio, Cuellaje. We hope to provide photographs of the completed works shortly, and wish to express our thanks to Omprakash for enabling these works to take place.
