Jaden Tout Moun (Everybody’s Garden)

What started as an unused and overgrown section of land on the property of REBUILD Globally (www.rebuildglobally.org, a Haiti Communitere partner organization) has now become the space for a street boy community garden. HC volunteers Stacey Cooper and Sierra Dunn are spearheading the project along with boys John ("Boot"), Givenson, Jameson ("Baka"), Gideson, Jean Rony, and Dorlens. The boys range in age from 9 to 15 years.The boys look forward to their Saturdays and time after school when they can help with the garden. They learn how to plant seeds, create and develop sustainable gardening techniques such as repurposing materials for growing herbs and trees, and how to work as a team. Surf TEAM

An initiative made possible through a partnership with Fields of Growth International, CREAR is proud to have formed a boy’s and girl’s surf team in Playa Samara. The team focuses not only on the sport of surfing, but also aims to instill core values such as responsibility, trust and confidence in its members through the formation of positive relationships with young men and women who can serve as mentors.Our surf team will be meeting every Saturday to surf, swim, learn how to care for our boards, and most importantly, how to be safe in the water!Stay tuned to learn more about our team and general program!...

Strengthening Food Security and Economic Status among HIV Widows and Orphans in Africa through Crossbreed Chicken Farming

 This project aims towards the improvement of food security and reduction of malnutrition and poverty among the widows and Orphans affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa   through crossbreed chicken farming. The use of crossbreed chicken was selected because nearly every rural household or village in Africa already keeps indigenous chicken but which have poor yield both in egg and meat production while a crossed breed chicken; for example cross-bred pullets begin to lay at 24 weeks, with a genetic potential of laying 200 eggs per year. The use of semi free range system was selected  because nearly every rural household in Africa use the free range system which has disadvantages’ such as predators killing young chicks as they scavenged for food, disease epidemics ,low amount of food eaten while chickens scavenge...

Ariel is 26 years old, he s originally from Bolivia and lives in Argentina with his family since he was eight years old. He lives in Villa Soldati, the small neighborhood south of Buenos Aires where he used to work at the time the laundry project started.They all used to work together with the community center bakery in Villa Soldati: Ariel, his brother Armin, currently one of the founders of Voluntario Global, and David, who is part of the team still today. There were the three of them who made the laundry in Monserat a living project, back in 2008. Carlos is 24 years old, he is from Villa Soldati and has been working with the Laundry project since its early beginning back in 2008.''When I joined, it was not very big, was not much. We were just a few, we were working with a few hostels. There was Armin, Ariel, David and myself, and then there were a few other guys who are not working with us any longer. But we started with very little, you see. We only had a bicycle, and the guys were doing the ironing with one of those small irons you use in the house.'' Federico is 17 years old and like many of the young people working at the Laundry, he is from Villa Soldati. He’s in the 5th year of his pre-university studies, and in two years from now he will have a diploma as electro-mechanic.He has been working here for one year. He decided to take the job to be able to bring home an additional income, and to be able to pay for his school expenses.
