Swimming lessons - Safetyprint story

August 09, 2012

Seeds of Hope Peru
Madeleine Sophie

It is very important to note the huge responsibility that teaching swimming holds. Swimming can be dangerous, it can result in injuries and death. One must always be sure to put safety first, to have proper control and discipline in order to ensure a safe environment. Safety must not been taken lightly. As a teacher you must have your eyes on all children at all times, and you must have your class under control. Discipline is important, you must have set rules that the children are reminded of before every single class, and you must stick to those rules firmly. For example, before every class I remind them of the rules, and there there are no chances, they clearly understand that any inappropriate action will result in a time-out, and if the action is repeated they will be asked to leave the pool and will not be allowed to come back. Although I am a lenient teacher at the Seeds school, at the Swimming Pool I am not lenient at all and they know this. It is extremely important to be safe at all times, because accidents happen much too fast, and would be incredibly tragic.
