Volunteering for Ecoguateprint story

July 16, 2012

Ecoguate Guatemala
Natalie Moyen

I volunteered during two sterilization campaigns for Ecoguate in the small town of Esperanza, close to Xela. During these days we spayed a little less than 20 dogs and a few cats. Although the team is small and the ressources scarce the association managed to spay these animals in decent conditions, affording antibiotics and pain killers. The team of volunteers was well organized and the day was spent in good spirit. This day is also an opportunity to vaccinate against rabies, deworm and to inform owners about basic welfare. The task is still huge but these pationate people are certainly making a difference to street dogs' life.
