This is a school for handicapped children. It had been holding classes in a tent. We were able to solicit donations and construct a school building in 2007.2. Grupo Urpi, Puno, Peru. Located in the Peruvian Andes at over 12,000 feet elevation, on the shores of Lake Titicaca. The word "Urpi" is from the Quechua language and means paloma in Spanish or dove in English. This is a school for handicalpped children. They have a bakery in the school and the children learn to bake bread, cakes and pastries. These bakery items are sold to the community and the proceeds help pay the salaries for the teachers. We were able to replace the ovens in 2008 through donations from private sources.3. Ropa Para Los Niños: Each winter, hundreds of children under the age of five die from the freezing temperatures in the high altitudes of the Peruvian Andes. Due to the global climate changes, it has been getting colder each winter. We deliver warm clothing to them in Aymara and Quechua villages above the cities of Puno and Cusco at altitudes between 13,000 and 14,500 feet elevation.4. CERELIAS (Centro de Rescate y Liberacion de Animales Silvestries). Located near Tarapoto in the alta selva (high jungle) of the Peruvian Amazon Rainforest. The center receives young orphaned animals as well as abused animals. They are cared for by volunteers, nurtured back to health and released into a protected area of the jungle.
