Emergency Flood Relief
In August 2010, Ladakh was devastated by flash floods. HI operated emergency relief projects in 14 of our partner villages, and supported 2 district wide programmes (medicines for pregnant women and Trauma Counseling).Projects were operated by flood survivors themselves, giving them rare control over emergency relief. Future Leaders Programme 2010
HI's Members operated 6 projects (Agricultureal Education, Mental Health, Winter Camp, Educational Fairs, Future Leaders' IT and a Publishing Programme) over 2010-2011. The membership continued to support several multi-year projects (including book printing, developing talking books and the Ability Network). Projects supported work across the district for over 100,000 beneficiaries.

"Monies funded 2 development programs in 2008-2009 in rural Ladakhi villages as: $11,702 in 2008 Solar lights and training, internships and education materials production; $3,746 in 2009 Internships, development of learning centres and $1,782 for construction of solar spaces and research for disabled persons in rural Ladakh.

Global Classroom Exchange Development
HI is linked to schools in Alberta, Quebec and New Delhi. THe Global Classroom Initiative allows children to exchange stories and work on curricular projects together. In 2009, Cynthia traveled to all partner schools and US universitites solidifying a project that will bring our Ladakh Model School 'on line', allowing kids to link dirrectly to their partners through the internet.

Publishing of 4 tri-lingual books for Ladakh schools
Omprakash supported HEALTH's on going local language educational materials programme by paying for production of 4 first readers, which were distributed free of cost to all government schools in Leh and Kargil Districts, Ladakh. This payment went directly to the printer in New Delhi.
