Clinic in Fond Des Negre by Lauren Odman Administering the life-saving medication, Mebendazole, to a child who showed signs and symptoms of having intestinal worms. | ![]() Dental care demonstration by Lauren Odman After the dental care lesson plan is completed, the children at F'oyer d'Orelph orphanage receive new toothbrushes and toothpaste. The children have never had their own proper brushes and most did not know the basic use for a toothbrush nor how to apply toothpaste. After the demonstration the children are proud to show off their new skills! | Lauren and nursing student at La Main Tendre orphanage by Lauren Odman Smart, a fourth year nursing student, helps out at La Main Tendre orphanage to help keep the children well in between clinics. She has been a tremendous help in reinforcing the information learned during the health lessons which is integral in helping the children to establish healthy habits. | ![]() Clinic day at SMDT orphanage by Lauren Odman This is Nelson, one of our children at S.M.D.T orphanage. When I first began seeing him his abdomen was so distended he often had issues keeping his balance while running. His nutritional status was such that he required a special diet plan, vitamin, and iron supplements. After three months he showed such signifigant improvement that he was practically a new child! The listless look on his face was gone and he now runs and plays with the other children. Seeing this kind of dramatic change has been one of the greatest rewards with our health education and clinic project. | ![]() Teaching handwashing at La Main Tendre Orphanage by Lauren Odman This is one of our Haitian volunteers, Regine, teaching the children proper handwashing technique. As you will see in a later video, the children pick it up easily. |
by Lauren Odman | ![]() A special special thanks to Omprakash! by Lauren Odman Today was the final clinic at SDMT orphanage! I wanted to give a very special thanks to Omprakash for their support during my time in Haiti. The children have all made tremendous improvements in their mental and physical health during these past few months. It was a day of tremendous satisfaction to see the months of tireless effort pay off in the currency of happy, healthy children! |
