Global-Ghana Youth Network
Accra, Ghana
GGYN has been an Omprakash Partner since 2008. Recently GGYN has progressed from being an After-School Program to a full-time Free Education School for classes 1-6 as well as a nursery. The school provides the children with exceptional education for children up to 14-15 years old.

Current Projects
In the impoverished Ghanaian neighborhood of Kissehman, we provide desperately needed resources and educational opportunities, meeting children's basic needs while encouraging them to learn and grow. In America, we work with schools, organizations, and youth groups to facilitate exciting cross-cultural exchange, as well as provide volunteer opportunities such as teaching the children in Ghana.
Partner Needs
Duties for volunteers in Ghana are flexible but may include: 1.) Teaching children basic subjects like Math, English, and Science 2.) Helping the children with their homework 3.) Giving the kids individual attention 4.) Learning how to cook Ghanaian meals 5.) Learning how to weave baskets 6.) Learning traditional drumming or dancing 7.) Sharing unique skills to bring something new to the organization (such as playing the guitar, teaching origami, playing basketball, etc.) 8.) Helping Mollishmael with administrative tasks 9.) Fundraising among personal contacts 10.) Reserving one suitcase to bring items (such as children's clothes) to Ghana and items (such as baskets) back to the U.S.
Financial Needs
Because of the number of children GGYN supports, resources are frequently used before they can be replaced, including notebooks, pencils, pens, paper, etc. Since donations don't always support the monthly budget, extra resources are always in need. Also, the school will be undergoing a transfer to a safer, more secure location, but the new school building is still under construction and will be needing many more funds before it can be used. Volunteers can also opt to "Sponsor a Child" by sending monthly donations to help pay for the older children who are in need of financial aid to go to higher learning schools.
Mission Statement
