Alyssa and I are working on a blog/photo exchange between my 5th grade class at Heritage K-8 Charter School in Escondido, California and her EDELAC 5th grade class in Guatemala. This week was the first week that our students took pictures with the Omprakash cameras. Unfortunately, I do not have permission to post pictures of my students' faces on the Omprakash website yet, but I'm posting some photos of the pictures that my students took during this first week. First, there are some examples of my students' US Acrostic Poems (inspired by Marcie Abloff's book, "Guatemala ABCs"). My students were told to use the letters of their first name to create an acrostic poem about objects, holidays, foods, or words that represent America. Then, the students were instructed to explain the significance of the words they chose. There is also a picture from an art lesson about focal length and shutter speed. The art teacher at my school, Ms. Hawkins provided a wonderful lesson where you will see the kids laughing and enjoying their first time experimenting with the cameras. Finally, there are a few pictures from our class field trip to the USS Midway in downtown San Diego on Thursday, March 22, 2012.
