Volunteer in Ethiopia

Project Mercy: Yetebon, Ethiopia

Project Mercy is an NGO started by an Ethiopian couple that, after living in political exile, returned to start a program that would benefit those overlooked by the government. It is an extremely effective program. They have built schools from pre-k through twelfth grade, a hospital that is known around Ethiopia, a demonstration garden, a crafts center for women, and much more. I worked in the hospital as a nurse’s assistant and as an English and science teacher. The program is so well executed that there isn’t a lot for volunteers to do but marvel in its excellence. Nonetheless, it is still worth visiting and supporting this effective program.
