-Asha
Asha (www.ashanet.org) is a network of educational projects operating throughout India. The word “Asha” means “Hope” in Hindi. An Asha representative has asked Omprakash to post the following statement:
The Asha for Education Internship program matches up interns willing to spend at least 6 weeks at a project site in India . As part of the placement process, we will find a project in India that matches your objective, skill and background. The activities you will be expected to perform as an intern will vary from project to project, but could be one or more among teaching, counseling, writing proposals etc. The intern is expected to be financially independent, though boarding and lodging may be provided at select locations. The experience is both exciting and intense. In case you will be applying to your university or an institution for funding, we can help with putting together your grant proposal if you are selected for the program. Knowledge of at least one Indian language is desired but not mandatory. Unlike many other internship programs, this is a non-commercial and flexible program that does not charge the intern for participating in the program. The biggest objective of the program is to provide you a vehicle to make a difference in the life of a few underprivileged children in India. If this is of interest, please click here, fill out an internship application, and send it back to us at internship@ashanet.org. You may also include a separate resume if you so wish, so we can learn more about you, though this is not a requirement.
