If you're looking for a volunteer experience that gives you the opportunity to be fully integrated into the community; that is offered at no cost; where the impact being made is not only obvious but entirely gratifying; Abriendo Mentes is it.  AM fills such a huge need in Potrero, and it's apparent from day one just how much AM's presence means to the community.  Apart from providing volunteers with the opportunity to truly make a difference, Meradith and Drew also make the experience as easy, comfortable, and fun as possible.  For a solo traveler and first-time international volunteer this was the perfect first experience, and I thorougly enjoyed every day of the three months I spent there.  I will definitely be a lifelong supporter of Abriendo Mentes and absolutely look forward to returning to Potrero soon.
