Busyness Tripprint story

February 02, 2011

Lha Charitable Trust India
Anoop Jain

I am back in India. It is always funny to me how just 24 hours ago I was in a totally different part of the world. When I came to India last summer, there was a certain degree of poignancy associated with that trip. I knew that I would be discovering an awful lot about myself and about the work that I eventually want to dedicate my life to.

That poignancy seems to have vanished. I know exactly why I am here this time around. i have a very firm agenda, and I know exactly what needs to get done. In a sense, this trip is like a business trip. I landed in India and within a couple of hours was on the phone and email setting up meetings. It is an incredible feeling. I know what needs to get done.

This trip will be dedicated to two causes. First and foremost is to see that the community kitchen for the LHA gets finished. I am heading back up to Mcleod Ganj on Sunday. Our hope is that we will have the construction finished in about a month. That would be a tremendous accomplishment. We could then start serving the refugee population shortly thereafter. The next big mission is to travel back to Bihar and continue my work with Deep Jyoti (a new Omprakash partner). We are hoping to start building our first set of toilets. Our hope is to bring awareness to the community about the importance of proper sanitation infrastructure. Then we can start providing toilets on a family by family bases.

Even though this trip is going to be short, I know that we will get a lot accomplished. It is my hope that the steps we take in the next month and half will really lay the foundation for incredible change in the future.
