I arrived on a Saturday night dark and anxiously suggestive. The taxi drivier was given the wrong address so there was a bit of worry in my bones. I told him the address I was given and it turned out to be the Volunteer's house. I slowly yet surely climb to the second floor and reach apt. C of Av. de Mayo 1385. The old colonial style door is intimidating but I am greeted by a quaint short little Argentine woman in English! This is such a great relief even though she startled me with a kiss on my cheek. I am shown my room and I begin to unpack as I get to know my German bunkmate and my Scottish and Indian roomates. After greeting them, they soon left me to go revel in the Argentine nightlife. I was exhausted so I went to bed and anticipated how my Sunday would progres. The group I was with the next day decided to go to Caminito which is a district in the La Boca area of the city. I figured since I was going to be working in that area I might as well check out the tourist Sunday fairs. The bustling markets were very colorful and ornated with lots of shiny trinkets and creative objects. The architecture is unlike any other and the colorful houses are extremely beautiful in person. We enjoyed our lunch to a free tango show and I enjoyed some of the best pasta I have ever had.
After lunch we went to the docks and enjoyed the nice view and by that time the day was over and I was prepared for my introduction and induction into Voluntario Global.
